In an interview with UK tabloid The Sun, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed concern that the ongoing conflict in Ukraine could escalate into a global war. He cited Russia’s involvement in conflicts around the world and its refusal to stop unless pressured by the US and China as major factors that could lead to World War III.
Zelenskyy highlighted Russia’s role in training Hamas militants and its partnership with Iran, suggesting that Vladimir Putin is intentionally instigating conflicts that could spiral out of control. He emphasized the importance of China’s role in pressuring Russia, noting that China is not interested in the Middle East like Russia and Iran.
The president warned that Ukraine is at the center of global risks of World War III and that Russia may continue to push until the US and China work together to confront the situation. He also acknowledged that Ukraine is facing challenges in garnering support from US Congress and is unable to defend itself without assistance from Western countries.
Zelenskyy’s remarks underscored the urgent need for international support in preventing further escalation of the conflict in Ukraine and deterring Russia from further aggression.
