Vikings Make Trade Agreement with Texans for No. 23 Pick in 2024 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is approaching, and there has been some movement in the first round. The Minnesota Vikings have made a trade with the Houston Texans to acquire the No. 23 overall pick. In addition to this pick, the Vikings also received the 232nd pick in the draft. They sent picks No. 42 and No. 188 overall to the Texans, along with a second-round pick in 2025. With the addition of the No. 23 pick, the Vikings now have two selections on Day 1 of the draft, along with their original No. 11 pick.

This trade puts the Vikings in a strong position to potentially target a quarterback in the draft to succeed Kirk Cousins, who recently signed with the Atlanta Falcons in free agency. The Vikings now have a new rundown of draft picks for 2024, which includes various picks in the later rounds acquired through other trades and deals. This trade leaves the Vikings without any picks on Day 2, but they prioritize targeting a quarterback on Day 1.

Meanwhile, the Texans traded away the 23rd pick to the Vikings as part of the Deshaun Watson trade with the Browns. Their first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft will now come with the 42nd pick in the second round that they received from the Vikings. The trade has reshaped the draft order for both teams, giving the Vikings more flexibility and opportunities to improve their roster.
