Transforming from scared child to champion racer – DirtFish

When Hämäläinen was just four years old, she found herself in the passenger seat of a rally car for the first time. However, that experience left her feeling frightened and wanting to get out of the car. Despite this initial reaction, her interest in rallies began to grow over the years until she finally decided she wanted to pursue rallying at the age of 19 or 20.

Today, Hämäläinen navigates for Emil Lindholm, with whom she achieved success in winning the WRC2 title. During a discussion with her WRC2 co-driving colleagues, her unique cadence in reading pacenotes was brought up. Despite some people not liking her style, Hämäläinen made it clear that their opinions were irrelevant to her.

Reflecting on her journey from a scared child in a rally car to a successful navigator, Hämäläinen’s determination and passion for rallying are evident. Even as she faces criticism for her reading style, she remains focused on her goals and continues to excel in her field.
