The Rise of the Amazon Empire: Jeff Bezos Takes Back Top Spot as World’s Richest Man

Jeff Bezos reclaims title of richest man from Elon Musk

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has regained his position as the richest man in the world. This comes after Elon Musk’s net worth fell by $34 billion due to a decline in Tesla’s shares and a Delaware court decision that cancelled a compensation plan.

Bezos stepped down as CEO of Amazon in July 2021 but his wealth has continued to rise thanks to the company’s strong performance. He now has a net worth of $200 billion, surpassing Musk who ended 2023 as the richest man with a fortune of $198 billion.

Bernard Arnault, the president of LVMH, is in third place on the list with a net worth of $197 billion. Mark Zuckerberg and Bill Gates follow closely behind as the fourth and fifth richest men in the world. The first Spaniard on the list is Amancio Ortega, founder of Inditex, who is ranked 16th with a fortune nearing $89 billion.

The richest woman on planet is Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, heiress to L’Oreal, with a wealth of $97.1 billion. Despite their differences in business interests and personalities, Bezos and Musk have been competing for supremacy for years now through their companies Blue Origin and SpaceX respectively.

Only one Argentine made it onto the list – Marcos Galperín, founder and CEO of Mercado Libre who ranked 365th with a net worth of $7.15 billion
