The Meta-X Showdown: How a Facebook Outage Became a Battle of the Tech Giants

Musk brags about Meta revealing Instagram outage on Twitter

On Tuesday, Meta experienced significant outages that impacted Instagram and Facebook. Due to their own servers being down, Meta had to turn to a rival platform, X, to announce the news. In response to the situation, Elon Musk took the opportunity to mock the tech company. In his first post in a week, Meta spokesperson Andy Stone acknowledged the issues users were facing and assured that they were working on fixing them.

During the outage, Facebook and Instagram users reported issues with logging into their accounts. A Meta-owned page that monitors the status of the company’s services noted “major disruptions” with Facebook logins. However, Meta has since announced that the technical issue has been resolved and apologized for any inconvenience caused.

Meta’s tense relationship with Elon Musk has been evident for some time now. Last year, Meta launched Threads, a direct competitor to X, which only grew over time. The public jibes and mocking between the two tech giants have become increasingly frequent. Despite this challenge faced during the outages, Meta is now back up and running once again, ensuring users can access their favorite platforms without any interruptions.
