Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has made a name for himself not only on the football field but also for his big personality. Much of his personality might have come from his mother, Donna Kelce, who is known for her famous chocolate chip cookies.
Donna Kelce, 71, recently discovered a mug that caught her eye, emblazoned with the words “It’s Mama Kelce’s world and we’re just living in it.” So much did she love it that she purchased 20 of the mugs as Christmas gifts for loved ones.
The mugs are more than just unique gifts; they contain the recipe and directions for Donna Kelce’s chocolate chip cookie recipe and sell for about $18 each. They were created by a small business in the Kansas City area, Annie’s Barn, with each mug sold contributing to paying off elementary school lunch debt. In just two weeks, the mugs sold enough to pay off approximately $2,000 in lunch debt at a school in the Kansas City area.
Annie’s Barn owner Annie Stowe reached out to Donna Kelce and asked if she would be willing to donate her cookie recipe to the project. While Donna has not yet responded to Stowe’s request to help deliver checks to the schools, Stowe plans to deliver checks to Pawnee Elementary in Overland Park, Kansas, as well as two schools in Olathe, Kansas.
Donna Kelce became famous for her cookies after making some for her sons Travis and Jason before their Super Bowl LVII game in February 2023. The cookies are special because they are flat and more like toffee cookies. According to Stowe, when she first baked them, they came out flat. When she reached out to Donna Kelce about it, she was told that the cookies were meant to be that way – flat and more like toffee cookies.
Sports fans interested in supporting this cause can visit Annie’s Barn’s website and purchase a “Mama Kelce” mug. They can be sure they will get a really good cookie recipe too!
