Springboks Surge to Number One in World Rugby Rankings with Final 2023 Top 20 Revealed

The final match of the La Vila International Rugby Cup held in Villajoyosa on Saturday marked the end of any further changes in the top 20 of the world rankings for 2023. The United States emerged victorious, defeating Spain 42-12 and moving up to 17th place in the standings, ahead of Uruguay, who finished in 18th place. Canada also improved their ranking after finishing third in the Cup with a 40-15 win over Brazil. However, they just missed out on the top 20, as Uruguay, Romania, and Spain finished above them.

At the top of the World Rugby rankings sits South Africa, who recently won the Rugby World Cup and hold a score of 94.54 points. Ireland is currently in second place with 90.57 points. New Zealand has fallen to third place following their loss in the final match against South Africa. France and England are currently ranked fourth and fifth respectively, while Scotland sits sixth despite exiting early in the pool stages.
