Rochester’s popular coffee shop, Spot Coffee, has been ordered to close temporarily by the Monroe County Health Dept. The closure was due to multiple health code violations that were found on the premises. A critical violation related to food from an “unapproved source, spoiled, adulterated on premises” was one of the issues cited in a sign on the door. Other violations included food not being protected from potential sources of contamination and lack of effective measures to control rodents and insects from entering the restaurant.
Spot Coffee’s District Operations Manager, Peter Kervin, stated that the company is taking the recent reports very seriously and immediately took action to address the issue. They are working to rectify the situation and prevent any recurrence of violations. The company is cooperating with the county health department and implementing thorough cleaning and sanitation procedures as well as working with pest control services.
The statement from Peter Kervin also appreciated the community’s understanding and patience as they work to resolve this matter. However, there was no immediate word on when Spot will reopen.
