Ryan Ficken remains with Chargers as special teams coordinator

The Seahawks have announced the hiring of former Chargers special teams coordinator Ryan Ficken as their new special teams coordinator for the upcoming season. This news was reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Ficken, who is 43 years old, has been a part of the Chargers organization since 2022, serving as their special teams coordinator under former coach Brandon Staley. Prior to his time with the Chargers, he spent 15 seasons as an assistant coach in Minnesota, where he also served as the Vikings’ special teams coordinator in 2021.

During his time at Michigan, Harbaugh’s son Jay Harbaugh served as his special teams coordinator. It is expected that Jay will move on to become the Seahawks’ special teams coordinator for the upcoming season.
