San Antonio funeral headstone business owner arrested for felony theft charge

The owner of Angelic Monuments, a funeral headstone business in San Antonio, has been taken into police custody. Elena Moreno, the owner, had an arrest warrant executed against her on Saturday. Previous reports on KSAT revealed that Moreno was accused of not delivering headstones that customers had paid for in full. This led to multiple victims coming forward with similar complaints.

After KSAT aired stories on the issue, more families reported to the San Antonio police about their experiences with Angelic Monuments. The arrest warrant that led to Moreno’s arrest was related to a family who had paid over $8,500 for a headstone that they never received. Moreno has been charged with theft between $2,500 and $30,000, which is a state jail felony.

While being placed in a police vehicle, Moreno denied stealing money from the families. San Antonio police stated that their property crimes detectives are actively investigating other reports related to Angelic Monuments. They urge anyone who believes they were a victim to contact the SAPD Property Crimes detectives.

KSAT will continue to provide updates on any further developments in this case.
