Revolutionizing Transportation: Alef Aeronautics Makes History with First Flying Car Approved for Test Flights

Nearly 3,000 Preorders Secured by SpaceX-Backed Flying Car Company

In July 2022, Alef Aeronautics made history with the first flying car to receive approval for test flights from the Federal Aviation Administration. The Model A is a fully electric two-seater that can take off vertically and fly over traffic. It has an estimated flight range of 110 miles and a driving range of 200 miles. The Silicon Valley startup has already received $250 million in preorders for the Model A, with deliveries set to begin in Q4 of 2025.

The Model A is backed by Elon Musk’s SpaceX and has received over 2,850 reservations, with interested buyers able to reserve a two-seater for $150 or pay $1,500 to be put in a priority queue. The company is also working on a more affordable four-seater sedan called the Model Z, set to release in 2035. If all 2,850 reservations are successful, Alef Aeronautics could make over $850 million in sales.

CEO and co-founder Jim Dukhovny called the achievement “one small step for planes, one giant step for cars.” He believes that this technology will revolutionize transportation and make travel more efficient and accessible. With the success of the Model A, Alef Aeronautics is paving the way for a new era in transportation.
