Private Sector Profitability in Argentina: A Pessimistic Outlook in the Latest VISTAGE Business Confidence Index

Business owners are gearing up for a year of increased revenue, but reduced profits.

The latest VISTAGE Argentina Business Confidence Index reveals a pessimistic outlook for the profitability of the private sector. Since 2006, this index has been conducted and in the most recent measurement, which took place in the fourth quarter of 2023, 355 businesspeople CEOs, senior executives and business owners provided their insights on the current economic scenario in Argentina and the future of their organizations.

The study found that 83% of participants believed that the economy had worsened compared to a year ago while only 13% estimated that it remained unchanged. Looking ahead to the next 12 months, 50% predicted that the situation would get worse, 37% believed it would improve, and only 13% thought there would be no changes.

In terms of investment decisions for fixed assets next year, 47% indicated that it would remain unchanged while only 22% predicted an increase. However, with high inflation involved, only
