Pink Flamingo Championship: OSU Women’s Team Defeats East Carolina in Epic Battle

Ohio State’s women’s basketball team clinched a convincing victory in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship by defeating East Carolina 79-55. The No. 15 Buckeyes were led by Jacy Sheldon, who scored a game-high 20 points, and Taylor Thierry, who contributed 14 points and eight rebounds.

The Buckeyes got off to a strong start, scoring the first 10 points of the game and maintaining a commanding 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson launched a comeback in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 14 points to bring ECU within three points of Ohio State at halftime.

Despite ECU’s efforts to close the gap, Ohio State dominated the second half, scoring 11 of the first 13 points to take a double-digit lead and maintained it for the rest of the game. Rebeka Mikulasikova added 12 points to Ohio State’s tally, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris each had 11. On ECU’s side, Johnson and Amiya Joyner scored 14 and 12 points respectively.

The game was marred by several technical fouls, including an ejection for ECU’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter. Despite these incidents, Ohio State’s strong performance ensured that they emerged victorious in the tournament.
