OMSI Named Best Science Museum in Newsweek’s Reader’s Choice Awards

The Oregon Museum of Science and Industry has been named the best science museum in the nation, according to Newsweek’s 2024 Reader’s Choice Awards. The magazine’s expert panelists and contributors nominated OMSI in early February, and readers were able to vote for their favorite museum throughout the month. Out of the 15 nominees, OMSI made the final list of 10, ultimately securing the top spot.

OMSI’s CEO and President, Erin Graham, expressed gratitude for the award, stating that the museum is “equally humbled and overjoyed” by the recognition. She credited the enthusiastic support of the museum’s communities in Portland and the Pacific Northwest for their success. Graham highlighted the special experience that OMSI provides, creating lasting memories for people of all ages over multiple generations.

Following OMSI on the list of best science museums were the Explora Science Center and Children’s Museum of Albuquerque, the Science Museum of Oklahoma, and the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago. The support for OMSI, demonstrated by the public vote, speaks volumes about the museum’s mission and the impact it has had on its visitors.
