Nov. 20: Recognizing the Best in CAA Men’s Basketball

Elon University has announced the winners of the CAA Men’s Basketball Weekly Awards for November 20. Sophomore TK Simpkins was named Player of the Week, while Freshman Nick Dorn was awarded Rookie of the Week.

During the Rock Hill Classic, Simpkins led Elon to a 2-1 week. He scored double figures in all three games, including 19 points on Friday against IUPUI, 12 points on Saturday against Holy Cross, and 14 points, seven rebounds, and five assists on Sunday against Winthrop. His average performance during the week included 15.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 2.7 assists with a shooting percentage of 44% and making 4-of-10 from three. In addition to his impressive free-throw shooting, he made 17 out of his 21 attempts in games against IUPUI and Winthrop.

Freshman Dorn had an outstanding week with an average performance of 11.7 points and 3.3 rebounds. He excelled in the tournament opener by knocking down four threes on nine attempts in a game where he scored a career-high of 19 points to lead Elon to victory over IUPUI on Friday. Dorn is one of three players at Elon that are currently averaging double figures this season.
