Marquette Junior Hockey has partnered with Northern Michigan University to provide benefits for players and the sport itself. The university has designated one of its hockey games each season as Youth Hockey Night and will provide 20 complimentary tickets for each home game that can be distributed throughout the youth hockey organization.
In addition to advertising in the Wildcats’ home Berry Events Center, Marquette Junior Hockey players will receive discounts to join the Young Wildcat Club, and fundraising opportunities such as being group game ushers, 50-50 raffle ticket sellers and chuck-a-puck sellers are being provided.
The partnership between the two organizations brings NMU hockey coaches and players into activities to enhance development of MJH players and coaches. According to Ryan Higbie, President of Marquette Junior Hockey, “We appreciate the opportunities and visibility this agreement will provide for our players.” Northern Michigan University Athletic Director Rick Comley is also excited about the partnership, stating that it is a win-win situation that aims to grow the sport and develop young players locally.
