Microsoft has announced the addition of former OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and his successor Greg Brockman to its ranks, as stated by CEO Satya Nadella. Nadella expressed excitement about the news and is committed to providing both Altman and Brockman with the resources they need for success. Despite the move to Microsoft, the company remains committed to its partnership with OpenAI.
Following Altman’s ousting from OpenAI, there was some confusion when the company’s board appeared to consider reversing the decision before settling on former Twitch CEO Emmett Shear as the interim CEO. This major change in leadership came after the company’s board declared they had lost confidence in Altman’s leadership abilities. Meanwhile, former OpenAI CTO Mira Murati has openly supported Altman, and is now being replaced by Shear.
Microsoft did not provide immediate comment or details about the new team joining the company. In a post on X, Brockman stated that he, Altman, and others planned to “build something new” and “incredible” at Microsoft.
