Konecranes, a leading lifting equipment company, has signed a contract to modernize the bridge crane used in the reactor hall of the Swedish Oskarshamn nuclear power plant. The order for the contract was placed in the fourth quarter of 2023 and is set to be completed over a two-year period. During this time, Konecranes will design, manufacture, supply, and install the modernization components, including a new 165-ton trolley lift.
The bridge crane plays an essential role in ensuring that strict regulatory requirements are met during reactor maintenance and the removal of spent nuclear fuel transport tanks. With this update, Konecranes aims to improve the efficiency and safety of these operations while maintaining compliance with stringent regulations.
“We are thrilled to be working with Konecranes on this important project,” said a spokesperson for the Swedish Oskarshamn nuclear power plant. “The updated bridge crane will help us meet our regulatory obligations while ensuring safe and efficient operations.”
Konecranes has a long history of providing innovative solutions for nuclear power plants around the world. This latest project is just one example of their commitment to delivering high-quality products and services that meet the unique needs of this industry.
