Kansas maintains top spot in men’s college basketball rankings as Gonzaga enters the top 10

The USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll is set to be shaken up by the upcoming holiday tournaments. While there was minimal change in the top 10 this week, that’s about to change as the loaded field at the Maui Invitational reshuffles things.

In this week’s poll, Kansas remains No. 1 and picked up 25 of 32 first-place votes. Purdue remains No. 2 with five firsts, while No. 3 Arizona received the other two No. 1 nods along with Connecticut and Marquette rounding out the top five.

However, in the next poll, we can expect some changes as four newcomers join the rankings: Colorado, Memphis, Mississippi State and UCLA are all capable of making waves in Honolulu.

Florida Atlantic tumbles ten spots to No. 20 after a loss to Bryant but stays in the poll. Meanwhile, Arkansas, Southern California, Villanova and Saint Mary’s drop out thanks to their tie for last week’s 25th spot between UCLA and Virginia.
