On Saturday, the Jug Adriatic water polo team from Dubrovnik defeated Jadran from Split 14-12 in a Regional League match played at the Poljud pool. The game was decided by a thrilling shootout, with both teams remaining scoreless for the final three minutes.
Jug led Jadran by two goals after 16 minutes of play, but the hosts fought back and were able to cancel the deficit by the end of the third quarter (7-7). It was anyone’s game heading into the last quarter, and it was Rino Burić who stepped up and scored all five goals for Jug, taking them to victory.
Burić led Jug’s scoring in the match, while Sergi Cabanas scored two goals. For Jadran, Luka Bukić, Đuro Radović and Loren Fatović each scored three goals.
The win moves Jug into first place in the Regional League with eight points from four games, while Jadran from Split remains second with seven points and a game less. Jadran from Herceg Novi is currently in third place without any points. The final match will be played between two Jadran teams on November 25th at the Poljud pool.
