Jeff Bezos Regains Title of World’s Richest Man in Billionaires Index

Jeff Bezos overtakes Elon Musk to become the wealthiest person in the world

Today, Jeff Bezos has regained the title of the world’s richest man, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. As of now, his net worth is $200 billion, surpassing Elon Musk who held the top spot for almost a year. This change in rankings is due to Tesla’s stock price dropping by over 27% this year. However, Amazon’s stock has risen by over 16% in the same period.

Despite their wealth, both Bezos and Musk face competition from French businessman Bernard Arnault. Arnault is the founder of luxury goods company LVMH and has a reported net worth of $197 billion. He is currently the only foreign businessman in the top 10 of Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg follows as the fourth-richest person in the world, with a net worth of $179 billion. Microsoft founder Bill Gates holds the fifth spot with a reported net worth of $150 billion.

The list of billionaires is predominantly male, with Francoise Bettencourt Meyers being the richest woman in the world, ranking at No. 15 on the overall list. She is the granddaughter of Eugène Schueller, the founder of L’Oréal.
