Fire Causes Partial Shutdown of Business Loop 70

The Columbia Fire Department responded to a commercial structure fire on Business Loop 70 between N Seventh Street to Range Line Road around 3:45 am on Friday morning. Upon arrival, heavy fire and smoke were visible coming from the building. Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Jenkins stated that the fire was upgraded to a second alarm due to the potential risks to nearby buildings. Despite the intensity of the fire, it was brought under control within about an hour.
