FEDCO hosts competition for World Water Day poster contest

Every year on March 22, World Water Day is celebrated as a time to focus on the importance of water on the planet. In recognition of this day, Fluid Equipment Development Company (FEDCO) is sponsoring a poster contest for Monroe County schools to participate in. FEDCO is a manufacturer of pumping equipment for desalination water treatment that is exported around the world.

The United Nations General Assembly designated March 22 as World Water Day in 1993 to raise awareness about global water issues. This year’s campaign theme is “Water for Peace.” With two billion people living without access to safe water, World Water Day aims to highlight the importance of freshwater and advocate for sustainable management of freshwater resources.

Elementary and middle school students in Monroe County are invited to create color posters illustrating the theme “Water for Peace” to participate in the contest. Prizes include an extreme science experiment visit from the Imagination Station for the overall winning school, World Water Day certificates for all participants, and custom water bottle prize packs for first-place winners chosen by FEDCO employees.

FEDCO President Eli Oklejas expressed pride in supporting the community and emphasizing the importance of water that creates jobs in Monroe County. Winning posters will be displayed at FEDCO’s headquarters for employees and customers to see.
