Empowering the Next Generation: SGMC Health’s Volunteen Summer Program Encourages High School Students to Make a Difference in Healthcare and Community Service

Applications now being accepted for SGMC Health Volunteen Summer Program

SGMC Health has announced the return of its annual Volunteen Summer Program for high school students, providing a unique opportunity to learn about healthcare and community service. The program aims to inspire a legacy of compassionate service and innovation in the community.

Selected participants will engage with healthcare professionals in various departments, gaining exposure to patient care prioritization and administrative support. The program runs from June 10 to July 26, with participants committing to two shifts per week.

The program offers an immersive experience, allowing students to observe and engage with healthcare professionals across various departments. By gaining insight into patient-centered care, participants will develop a deeper understanding of the healthcare field. The program aims to foster a passion for healthcare and community service among high school students.

Participants will have the chance to earn valuable volunteer experience while exploring the healthcare environment and gaining insight into the field. The program is open to rising ninth through twelfth graders with a B or higher grade point average, and applications must be completed by May 1, 2024.
