Edge Sound Research secures $1.9 million in seed funding

Edge Sound Research, a specialist in audio technology, has successfully raised US$1.9 million in new funding through a seed round. The funding round was led by venture capital fund Potential Capital, with additional investments from Elevate Ventures, Techstars, and the National Basketball Association (NBA) Equity. This brings the total funding raised by Edge Sound Research to US$2.7 million.

Headquartered in California, Edge Sound Research is focused on providing the best possible audio experience for live sporting events, whether it be at home or in the stadium. The startup has previously participated in the Minnesota Twins’ technology accelerator and was also selected to be part of the NBA’s Launchpad accelerator. Edge has collaborated with NBA franchises such as the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers, and had the opportunity to showcase its technology during the NBA All-Star weekend in Indiana. The company was recognized as one of SportsPro’s top 20 sports tech ideas to invest in for the class of 2024.

Looking ahead, Edge’s co-founder and CEO Valtteri Salomaki has expressed plans to expand the company’s technology offerings to encompass various entertainment sectors. This includes exploring innovations in ‘volumetric audio’ for immersive devices like the Apple Vision Pro.
