Cincinnati Bengals Add QB Drew Plitt to Practice Squad

The Bengals have recently announced the signing of Drew Plitt to their practice squad, following an injury to their starting quarterback Joe Burrow. Plitt had previously been with the team during the 2022 preseason but was cut before making it onto an NFL roster. However, he did play for Arlington in the XFL during the league’s 2023 season, where he had a strong performance with a record of 63-of-100 for 668 yards, three touchdowns, and five interceptions.

With Jake Browning set to start for the Bengals and AJ McCarron in line for the No. 2 job, the team is looking to add depth to its quarterback position with the addition of Plitt. The move comes as a result of Burrow’s season-ending wrist injury, which has left the team in need of another option at the position.

In addition to signing Plitt, the Bengals have also made some other moves on their roster. They have designated running back Chase Brown for return from injured reserve and placed guard Jaxson Kirkland on the practice squad injured reserve. These moves will help fill some gaps on their roster as they look to prepare for the rest of the season without Burrow.
