Breaking Barriers: Italy’s Remarkable Increase in Female Managers

Increase of 8.1% in Women Managers in Italy in Past Year

According to recent data from INPS, as reported by Manageritalia in their “Report Gives,” the number of women in managerial positions in Italy has increased by an impressive 8.1% in the past year and a staggering 92% since 2008. This represents a significant shift in gender equality within the workplace, with women now making up 21.4% of all managers, compared to just 12.2% in 2008.

The increase in female managers is largely attributed to generational turnover, with young women already accounting for 39% of those under the age of 35. Additionally, among all managers, women make up a remarkable 32%, while this figure rises to 40% among those under the age of 35.

The tertiary sector has seen the highest percentage of women managers at 25.4%, compared to the industry sector at just 15.9%. However, it is important to note that this growth is visible across all sectors of the Italian economy, with significant increases in managers overall across all sectors. The tertiary sector has experienced an impressive increase of 5.3%, with women registering an even more substantial increase of 8.5%. Similarly, both health and social assistance sectors have also shown significant growth, with a total increase of 18.3% and women reaching a remarkable increase of 20.2%.

On the other hand, progress has been slower in the industry sector, which has only experienced a modest increase of new managers (7.1%) and an overall managerial increase (1.8%). However, it’s worth noting that education and teaching have seen a decline – a decline that was particularly pronounced for women (48%) – indicating that there may be some ambivalence about leadership roles among this particular group of workers.

Overall, these figures suggest that women are making strides in leadership roles across various sectors in Italy and that progress continues to be made towards greater gender equality within the workplace.

In conclusion, recent data from INPS shows that there has been an impressive increase in female managers across all sectors of Italy’s economy over the past year and decade as well as an overall growth rate for new managers during this period.
