NBC Chicago: Shooting inside Austin business leaves 1 dead, 4 injured

A tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning at an Austin business, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old woman and injuries to four others. The victims were inside the business on West Madison Street when an unidentified shooter opened fire on them before fleeing the scene.

The 19-year-old woman who was fatally shot was struck in the head and died at the scene. A 20-year-old woman sustained injuries to her face and left leg, while a 19-year-old woman was struck in the ankle. Both were taken to separate hospitals and are reportedly in good condition. Additionally, a 17-year-old girl was critically injured in the right leg, and a 16-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to her foot. They were also taken to the hospital for treatment.

At this time, the circumstances of the shooting remain unclear, and the suspect is still at large. The incident is being investigated by Area Four detectives to determine what led to the shooting and who was responsible for this senseless act of violence.
