Gastonia woman confesses to using COVID relief loans for cosmetic surgery

A Gastonia woman has pleaded guilty to fraudulently obtaining business loans intended for COVID-19 relief and using the funds for personal expenses. The U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Charlotte stated that Kelly Bree Mosley, 48, admitted in court to misusing approximately $125,000 of PPP and EIDL loans for bills, foreign currency investments, and plastic surgery, including liposuction. Mosley acquired the loans by submitting applications for a fictitious event planning business and in her own name, providing false information such as gross revenues, payroll expenses, number of employees, and operational costs. She certified under penalty of perjury that the details were accurate when submitting the applications.
