CofC’s Reyne Smith makes commitment to Louisville; Scott enters transfer portal | Sports

College of Charleston’s leading scorer, Reyne Smith, quickly found a new home after head coach Pat Kelsey was named the head coach at Louisville. Kelsey, who led the Cougars to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances, will now coach Smith at Louisville. The Australian sharpshooter verbally committed to the Cardinals, as reported on social media.

In addition to Reyne Smith, the Cougars also lost talented freshman center James Scott, who entered the transfer portal. However, they secured a new head coach in Chris Mack, who has agreed to a five-year deal. With seven players moving on from the team, Mack will have his work cut out for him as he builds a new roster for the Cougars.

Among the players who have moved on from College of Charleston are Ante Brzovic, Ben Burnham, Jordan Crawford, Khalil London, and Evan Kilminster. Smith, who made a team-high 112 3-pointers last season, set a school record with 10 threes in a single game. Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68 was the first to report Mack’s hiring.
