Bezos vs Musk: Battle for World’s Richest Person Title Heats Up as Bezos Sells More Amazon Stock

Jeff Bezos closes in on Elon Musk as the world’s richest person after selling Amazon stock

Amazon’s Executive Chairman Jeff Bezos is currently the world’s second richest man, with an estimated net worth of $200 billion according to Bloomberg. However, with Elon Musk’s recent decline in net worth due to Tesla’s stock dropping 24% in the first two months of the year, Bezos may soon reclaim the title of the world’s wealthiest person.

Recently, Bezos sold more than $2 billion worth of Amazon stock, almost 12 million shares, and is planning to sell another 50 million shares around Feb. 7, worth an estimated $8.4 billion. These stock sales could potentially propel Bezos’ net worth and allow him to reclaim the title of the world’s wealthiest person from Musk.

Forbes has already calculated that Musk lost his No. 1 spot on its real-time billionaire tracker to LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault in late January, who now sits at No. 1 with a net worth of $220 billion. Musk is currently No. 2 on Forbes list with an estimated net worth of $201.6 billion, while Bezos is No. 3 at $195.9 billion. With these developments in mind, it seems that the battle for the title of the world’s richest person continues and anything can happen in terms of who will claim it next.
