Amina Smith makes move from NBC Sports Boston to ESPN

Amina Smith, who has been a studio host for the Celtics and Patriots at NBC Sports Boston for the past three years, is moving on to ESPN. Her final day at NBC Sports Boston will be next Wednesday.

Smith arrived in Boston in March 2021 after working as a host and reporter for Stadium in Chicago, where she covered college football and the NBA. A native of Brooklyn and a graduate of the University of Miami, Smith will be joining ESPN as a “SportsCenter” anchor starting on April 2.

In Smith’s absence, Tom Giles will take over the Celtics pregame and postgame hosting duties for the remainder of the season. Giles previously filled in for Smith last year when she was on maternity leave, so he is no stranger to the role.
