Activists’ Efforts to Stop Evictions

Activists in the protest camp against the expansion of the Tesla Factory in Grünheide, East Germany, are seeking legal action against the requirements of their meeting. The “Stop Tesla” initiative stated that they will use all constitutional means to prevent eviction. It is unclear what specific steps they plan to take. The demonstrators are currently occupying part of the forest at the Tesla factory site.

The assembly authority confirmed an extension of the camp under certain conditions. One condition is that the activists must dismantle their tree houses by Monday, a requirement they have stated they do not intend to fulfill. Brandenburg’s Interior Minister views this as a violation of the requirements that could potentially end the protest.

The activists aim to impede the clearing of the forest as part of the planned expansion of the Tesla site with a freight station. Despite a majority of citizens of Grünheide voting against the expansion, the municipality suggests only clearing about half of the forest. The situation remains tense as both sides stand their ground.
